彼は、日常の中で見過ごされている「見えない現実」に光を当てるアーティストです。街や工事現場で目にするブルーシートに覆われた物体、子ども時代の記憶を残した椅子、鏡や写真を通じたセルフポートレートなどを題材に、普段は意識しないまま通り過ぎている世界の断片をすくい上げます。

福島にとって彫刻は、中身が空であっても成立する「不完全な存在」です。その不完全さを起点に、生活の中で埋もれてしまったものを浮かび上がらせ、私たちが当たり前のように受け入れている日常を改めて見つめ直すきっかけをつくります。

彼の実践は、彫刻というメディアの特性を再考しつつ、生活と芸術の境界を横断する試みでもあります。表層と内部、現実と非現実、自己と他者のあわいを作品として提示し、鑑賞者に自らと世界との関わりを新たに問い直す契機を与えます。

He is an artist whose work centers on the overlooked realities embedded in everyday life. From blue-sheet-wrapped objects found in streets and construction sites, to a childhood chair marked with personal traces, to self-portraits mediated by mirrors and photography, his practice seeks out fragments of reality that we habitually ignore or suppress.

For Fukushima, sculpture is an “incomplete medium.” Whether hollow or solid, its incompleteness itself becomes the condition that allows it to reveal the complexity of the world. By transforming mundane, veiled, or forgotten objects, his work reactivates the material specificities that slip through our daily abstractions.

Fukushima’s practice thus reconsiders the nature of sculpture while probing the intersections of life and art. His works expose the thresholds between surface and depth, reality and unreality, self and other, inviting viewers to re-engage with the relationships that shape their encounters with the world.
